Lornamead Establishes Dedicated Business for Yardley of London
Lornamead Group, the manufacturer and marketer of personal care products, has created a dedicated business unit for its luxury toiletries business, primarily focusing on Yardley of London. The move signifies the company’s increased investment and commercial focus in heritage fragrance and bath luxuries following the company’s sale of the Yardley business in Asia, Middle East, Australasia and certain African countries in November 2009.
Quentin Higham has been appointed Managing Director of Yardley of London and will set up and lead the specialist division from new offices in Windsor. Reporting to Lornamead’s Chief Operating Officer, Jon Osborne, Quentin will have full responsibility for the Yardley and Woods of Windsor businesses in Europe and Americas. He takes up the newly created role on 1 March and will focus on category expansion, new product development, as well as new market penetration.
Prior to joining Lornamead, Quentin owned and ran HOQ Consultancy Ltd, a sales and marketing consultancy, specialising in the creation and management of beauty brands. Over the last four years HOQ Consultancy created, launched and managed James Brown London, Purity Organic Skincare, Jo Wood Organics and consulted on various brands such as Elle Macpherson. Quentin’s other previous roles include Commercial Director of KMI where he was responsible for King of Shaves, Ted Baker and Fish styling; Marketing Director EMEA for Coty with responsibility for Rimmel cosmetics and adidas toiletries and numerous management roles within Revlon.
Yardley London is one of England’s most established perfumery companies. Formed in 1770, Yardley became synonymous with Lavender after Charles 1 granted it a concession to manufacture lavender soap. Over the years Yardley’s reputation as one of the world’s leading soap and perfumery houses has been firmly established and is the holder of two Royal Warrants. Yardley prides itself on its wide range of beautiful, quality floral fragrances and ancillary body products, inspired by England’s diverse and varied flowers.
Mike Jatania, Chief Executive, Lornamead comments: “Following the sale of our Yardley business in other countries, we are increasing our investment in Yardley in Europe and Americas. Yardley London is a very special brand with 240 years of heritage and international recognition, so this dedicated division will provide the specialist resource and financial investment it deserves. Quentin’s experience in management and sales and marketing within the beauty industry makes him invaluable in the future success of this well-loved brand. I very much look forward to working with Quentin on growing this iconic brand in the UK and abroad.”
Commenting on his appointment, Quentin Higham says: “I am delighted to be working on rejuvenating and growing both brands and fulfilling their tremendous heritage and equity. Both brands’ Englishness, tradition and quality mean that they remain as aspirational and relevant to today’s consumer as they have been for generations. Pictures of Yardley are available on request.
